You Don’t Actually Want What You Say You Want

Apr 27, 2026

Let’s cut the shit.

You don’t want what you say you want.

Not because you’re wrong.

But because you’re still saying it in a way that feels safe to say out loud.

You say you want ease.

But you’re still addicted to earning your right to exist.

Still tying your worth to effort.
Still believing you have to prove something before you get to relax.

So yeah… you “want” ease.

But only if you’ve suffered enough first.

You say you want wealth.

But there’s a part of you that thinks money will change you.

Corrupt you.
Expose you.
Make people judge you.

So you keep yourself in a range that feels acceptable.

Not broke.

Not fully expressed either.

Just… tolerable.

You say you want visibility.

But what you actually fear is being seen without the performance.

Without the curated version.
Without the version of you that knows how to be liked.

Because real visibility?

Means you don’t get to control how people see you.

And that terrifies you.

You say you want expansion.

But you’re still running everything through survival.

“Will this make me too much?”
“Will this cost me something?”
“Will this make people uncomfortable?”

So instead of expanding…

You negotiate.

You dilute.

You shrink.

You say you want speed.

But only if it doesn’t disrupt anything.

Only if it doesn’t challenge anyone.
Only if it doesn’t require you to actually be different.

So no.

You’re not asking for the wrong things.

You’re just asking for them through a filter that says:

Power = dangerous
Visibility = unsafe
More = risk

So your desires get watered down into something your nervous system can tolerate.

But underneath all of that?

You know exactly what you want.

You want a life that doesn’t require self-abandonment.

You want money that expands you—not controls you.

You want to be seen fully… and still feel safe.

You want to move fast, boldly, unapologetically…

Without checking if it’s allowed.

And here’s the part you don’t want to admit:

It’s not that you don’t know what you want.

It’s that saying it out loud would require you to stop playing small.

To stop negotiating.

To stop pretending you’re okay with less than what you actually desire.

So instead, you soften it.

You make it sound reasonable.

You wrap it in language that feels acceptable.

“I just want clarity…”
“I just want alignment…”
“I just want to feel ready…”

No.

You want to stop hiding.

You’re not here to want less.

You’re here to stop filtering what you want through fear.

Because the moment you stop doing that?

Everything sharpens.

Everything accelerates.

Everything becomes obvious.

So here’s the real question:

If you stopped editing your desires…

What would you actually say?

And would you be willing to say it without cushioning it?

Because that’s the moment everything changes.

Not when you figure it out.

When you stop pretending you don’t already know.
