𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞

So, why would we avoid an honest self-assessment?

Because of the freaking perception of what we might find and what it means.

We may find out that we are further behind than we think we should be, and perception tells us that = failure

We may find out we arent operating with as much integrity as we want to, and perception tells us that = a liar/ fraud/ con man

We may find out we have more resistance than we would like (this is exacerbated by spending years working on the things we have resistance around and finding not much has changed), and perception tells us that = stuck/ broken/ nothing will work for us.

Bottom line: we are terrified of finding out that the proverbial 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 were right about us and we were simply delusional. And that we are, in fact, irreparably beyond repair.

Not to mention what happens if we try to do any of this in public.

If we openly reveal our humanity, we run the risk of that being used against us in a myriad of ways. Being shamed for it. Being called names.

If we hide our humanity (aka imperfections, foibles and wounds), and someone spots them, we are eviscerated. Crucified.

There are very few safe spaces where we can be honest about where we are without being judged or shamed for it at some point.

Even those closest to us have trouble acknowledging our humanity because it mirrors theirs, which is triggering, because they’ve spent a lifetime running from it.

The key is to find or create spaces where it is safe to say:

This is where I am. I hate it. I wish it was different, but nevertheless, that is the truth.

From THERE all things are possible. Because once we have an honest view of where we are, we can decide what to do next.

The world is a canvas and we can paint the exact picture of our heart’s desire.

But if we aren’t willing to be honest, we won’t get anywhere, because we will simply
