What it actually means to set a big goal—and detach from the outcome

Jun 19, 2025

You've heard it a thousand times:
“Set a goal. Detach from the outcome.”

Cool.
But WTF does that actually mean?

Why even set a goal if you’re not supposed to care whether it happens or not?
Why shoot for anything if you’re expected to be “zen” about missing it?

Let’s break it down—so you can stop feeling like a failure when you don’t hit your goal…
and then feeling double-fcked* because you weren’t “detached” enough either.
Here’s the truth:

Big goals are sacred.
They crack you open.
They stretch your identity.
They drop you into new frequencies, new ideas, new timelines.
They’re not just targets—they’re portals.

They’re not the problem.

The problem is expecting the how, when, and exact outcome to match your plan perfectly.

You don’t control timing.
You don’t control other people’s choices.
You don’t control the invisible gears of reality that are still turning long after you’ve done your part.

Imagine this:
You hear about a bridge being built from New York to Greenland.
You decide: I will be the first person to drive across it.

You plan. You map the route. You even pad the timeline for setbacks.
You leave early. Everything aligns. You arrive first.

But the bridge?

🚧 Still under construction. Delayed a year. 😱
Now what?
Did you fail? Nope. You had nothing to do with the bridge not being ready. No matter how powerful you are, you still can't control other people's actions or timing. And you definitely couldn't have planned for them.

You can quit, and pick a new goal or you can adjust your goal, and keep moving.

You shift the goal: Be the first to drive to Greenland—bridge or no bridge.
You get creative. Build a tunnel. Rally a crew. Move the dates.

It takes 3 years. It's nothing like you pictured.
But in the end—you do it.
You're the first human to drive to Greenland.
You find out the bridge project was scrapped and abandoned. You never would have made it if you didn't pivot! 🫢

That’s what it means to set a big goal and detach from the outcome.

You hold the what lightly.
You release the how entirely.
You trust the when will unfold with divine precision (even if you have a preferred timeline in mind)

And you keep showing up like it's inevitable—because it is.

The goal stays true.
The form gets to evolve.

The power isn’t in controlling the outcome. It’s in continuing to move forward, no matter how the path changes.

🔥 So yes—set the big goal.
🚫 Don’t cling to how it has to happen.
🚫 Don’t worship the deadline.
🚫 Don’t stop just because the plan changes.

💡 Stay fluid. Stay focused. Stay available to the magic your mind can’t yet imagine.

That’s detachment.
That's being a sovereign creator of your reality.
That’s how miracles move.
