What If You Already Deserve the Life You Want?
Aug 13, 2026
Maybe the biggest thing standing between you and your dreams isn't your ability. It's what you were taught to believe about yourself.
There is something that breaks my heart every single time I hear it.
Someone tells me about the life they want.
The business they dream of building.
The relationship they long for.
The home they imagine living in.
The peace they're craving.
Then almost immediately...
They start explaining why they probably don't deserve it.
Sometimes they say they haven't earned it yet.
"If I were good enough, I'd already have it."
Others believe they simply haven't worked hard enough.
They call themselves lazy.
Undisciplined.
As though exhaustion is somehow the price of admission to a beautiful life.
Others quietly carry the belief that they've made too many mistakes.
That somehow one wrong decision years ago permanently disqualified them from the future they wanted.
And then there are the people who have convinced themselves that maybe it just wasn't meant for them.
That other people get to have extraordinary lives...
But not them.
I've heard every version of this story.
And every time I do, I think the same thing.
**Who taught you that?**
Because babies aren't born believing they have to earn love.
Children don't naturally believe they're too much.
They don't arrive in the world convinced that joy belongs to everyone else.
Those stories are learned.
Picked up from parents.
Teachers.
Culture.
Experiences.
People who were often carrying the exact same beliefs themselves.
Over time those borrowed stories become so familiar that we stop questioning them.
We mistake them for truth.
We call them reality.
But they're not reality.
They're conditioning.
And conditioning can change.
That's one of the most hopeful things I've ever learned.
You don't have to spend the rest of your life living inside someone else's beliefs about what's possible for you.
You don't have to keep proving your worth.
You don't have to earn your right to dream.
And you certainly don't have to apologize for wanting a life that feels expansive, meaningful, and deeply fulfilling.
Wanting more doesn't make you greedy.
It doesn't make you unrealistic.
It doesn't make you selfish.
It makes you human.
So if you've been wondering whether you're worthy of the life you keep imagining...
I'd like to offer you a different question.
What if the life you want isn't asking you to become more deserving?
What if it's simply asking you to stop believing you never were?
Sometimes the greatest transformation isn't creating a new life.
It's remembering that you were worthy of one all along.
