Stop Searching for Your Purpose

Jun 22, 2026

For years, I believed a lie.

A very convincing lie.

A lie that kept me chasing, searching, questioning, and second-guessing myself.

It sounded like this:

"If I don't figure out my purpose, I'm wasting my life."

Maybe you've felt it too.

That pressure.

That urgency.

That feeling that somewhere out there is a magical answer that will finally make everything click into place.

Did you know the average person spends over 90,000 hours working during their lifetime?

That's a lot of hours.

And when you're carrying the belief that you're supposed to discover your one true purpose, every one of those hours can feel loaded.

You start feeling the clock ticking.

You start wondering:

"Am I doing the right thing?"

"What if I'm missing it?"

"What if everyone else has figured it out except me?"

I know this feeling intimately.

I spent years chasing jobs, businesses, projects, certifications, and opportunities.

Each one felt like it might finally be the thing.

The thing that would bring fulfillment.

The thing that would make me feel certain.

The thing that would prove I was on the right path.

And every time I reached it, there was another mountain.

Another possibility.

Another question.

Eventually, I realized something.

The problem wasn't that I hadn't found my purpose.

The problem was that I believed purpose was something outside of me.

Something hidden.

Something I had to discover.

Something I had to earn.

But what if purpose isn't something you find?

What if purpose is something you are?

Stay with me.

I know that sounds almost too simple.

But sometimes the deepest truths are.

What if your purpose isn't a career?

Or a business?

Or a mission?

What if your purpose is simply being fully, unapologetically, authentically you?

The world spends an incredible amount of time telling us who we're supposed to be.

Parents.

Teachers.

Bosses.

Social media.

Self-help culture.

Everyone has an opinion.

And over time, we collect layer after layer after layer of expectations.

Until one day we look in the mirror and realize we have no idea who we actually are underneath all of it.

Then we call that feeling "being lost."

We think we need to find ourselves.

But you don't need to find yourself.

You're already there.

You've always been there.

The work isn't finding yourself.

The work is removing everything that isn't you.

The pressure.

The expectations.

The conditioning.

The stories.

The roles.

The identities you inherited but never consciously chose.

Because underneath all of that?

You already exist.

Your authentic self isn't missing.

It's buried.

And the moment you stop searching for some grand external purpose...

You can begin listening to the person who has been quietly waiting underneath all the noise.

Maybe purpose isn't another thing to achieve.

Maybe purpose is remembering who you've been all along.
