And more importantly, how to stop it!  

A couple of years ago, someone in one of my business groups offered for me to teach to her audience of over 1.5 million people. 

She recognized the need for their money mindset to shift, she loved my vibe and we aligned with the way we supported our communities. She messaged me a couple of times…… and I never responded. 

I still think about it, sometimes, kicking myself for missing the opportunity. 

Maybe you know that feeling, too.

You see something promising—an idea, a side gig, even just a new way of using your skills—and right away, that voice in your head tells you all the reasons it’s “not for you.”

And the voice feels very reasonable, and also totally right!

But the thing is… it’s not. 

It’s simply a limiting belief shaping the way you perceive the information and notice opportunities. 

Or don’t even see them in the first place. 

Most people I meet underestimate the level at which the brain can completely hide opportunities that might be right in front of their face, and I feel a responsibility to make this common knowledge. 

I want you to have that extra $100K. I know what a difference it would make in your life. 

And most importantly, you deserve it.

Your brain as a filter

Hang with me while I get a little science-y for a minute. 

Our brain receives 11 million bits of information per second, but it can only process 64 of those. That is what we “notice” - this becomes conscious. We see it, we hear it, we feel it, we notice it etc.

The other 10,999,936 bits of information are junked every single second. It is like they never even existed to us. And how does the brain decide what is important enough to include in the 64 bits? 

It decides based on your beliefs. 

What does that mean for you? 

That means if you have a belief in your mind that says “I don’t deserve an extra $100K a year” or “I haven’t earned an extra $100K a year”, your brain will use this as a guide for deciding what to include in the 64 bits of information. 

Any opportunities to make an extra $100K? They go in the trash can. Any great potential partnerships? Junked. Any courses or mentors that could actually help you leapfrog into that extra $100K? Dismissed as unimportant. 

Along with everything else that contradicts with the belief “I haven’t earned an extra $100K”. 

How to know what beliefs are operating in your brain 

We touched on this in Day 7: Get clarity on your limiting beliefs in 3 easy questions, but here’s a quick recap. 

You can find the most insidious beliefs that are holding you back with this exercise: 

Finish these sentences with the very first thoughts that come to your mind (without censoring yourself):

• I would be more successful, but…
• I would have more money, but…
• I would have more freedom, but…

Whatever comes up for you as you do this exercise is the lens that your brain is using to filter out anything that contradicts those beliefs. 

What to do about this

The best solution is always going to be remove the limiting beliefs with a process that can deconstruct the neural networks in your brain, such as hypnosis, NLP, ELD or FrequencEase.
