Growth isn’t a straight line (Sometimes you have to go to Z to find C)
Aug 22, 2025
I got new furniture on Friday.
And it was actually a journey to get there.
A year ago, I woke up in my million dollar house with a pool and palm trees in the fancy part of town near Los Angeles… and realized it wasn’t what I wanted at all.
For years, that house was my pinnacle of success. The moment I could sigh with relief and know I’d made it.
But that day, I felt repulsed by it. Rooms with zero furniture because no one ever went there. Weighed down by hundreds of thousands of dollars of accumulated stuff that looked pretty but I didn’t give a shit about. A pool I hadn’t used in 2 years.
Every cell in my body started scratching at the door like a caged animal. I wanted OUT.
So I hatched a brilliant plan: Move to a trailer. Get rid of 99% of my things. Travel the world teaching workshops.
I FELT SO FREE.
Within weeks, I was officially off-grid on my bestie’s property. Considerably lighter. Definitely free.
**Then reality kicked in.**
Three weeks without hot water. Toilet issues. Gas running out constantly. Everything was work - even getting a pan meant emptying everything stacked on top of it.
The AC couldn’t get the temperature below 80 degrees. Everything was always dirty.
Turns out I’m not built for eternal camping. And that’s what it was.
I lasted 2.5 months.
Now I’m in a cute 2-bedroom apartment with easily accessed utilities, functioning AC and GREAT energy. And on Friday, furniture arrived that I absolutely love - pieces I chose thoughtfully, that are coming with me everywhere in the future.
Some of my clients worried I’d lost the plot when I dumped everything and moved into a trailer.
But here’s what I remembered by living it: Growth isn’t a straight line from A to B. Sometimes you have to go to Z to find C.
The trailer wasn’t a mistake. It was a necessary detour.
I had to completely reject what I thought I wanted to discover what I actually wanted.
I had to experience the extreme of having nothing (again) to understand what I truly valued.
I had to break free from borrowed dreams before I could create authentic ones.

None of this would have been possible without the “detour.” I would have stayed trapped in a beautiful prison, convinced it was what I wanted because it looked like what success was supposed to look like.
Sometimes the path to where you’re meant to be looks like you’re going completely off course.
Sometimes you have to swing to the extreme opposite to find your actual center.
Sometimes what looks like losing the plot is actually finding it.
Your growth doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else.
Not even to you, while you’re in it.
Trust the journey. Even when it looks like you’re going backwards. Even when others worry you’ve lost your way.
Especially then.
As long as you are listening to that voice that guides your inner knowing, you’ll always end up RIGHT where you’re meant to be. 💜
