My man is the bees knees (and obviously I’m biased) but he has displayed such simple actions that prove he’s an advocate that I just wanted to share, in case anyone is looking for inspiration on how to be one too:

💜 I came out of a restroom in a bar and he had his arm around a guy (a head taller and probably 100 lbs larger than him) and was leaning in really close to his ear, saying something.

When we walked away I asked him what that was about. He shook his head and told me not to worry.

A few minutes later, after we left the bar, he shared that the guy had been trying unsuccessfully to talk to the girls standing in line, and he had pulled him aside to school him on hearing a woman’s no, paying attention to their body signals and respecting what they said.

He told him “women aren’t there for your pleasure. You need to respect them.” The guy backed off, but my honey was MAD 😡 and needed a few minutes to calm down before he relayed the story.

💜 One time a guy touched me inappropriately- in what seemed to be an accident - but when he didn’t apologize, my honey dragged him outside to school him and then told the organizers what he had done.

💜 One time (last week actually when we were out dancing), a guy came to stand unnecessarily close to me to pay for his drink and put his hand on my shoulder to talk to me. When I walked away, he said “Hey, you don’t have to leave!”

My honey walked up to him, put his arm around him (again; the guy was about a foot taller than him and 100 lbs bigger) and said “Oh. Did you want someone to stand next to. I’ll stand here.” When the guy got squirmy, he said “You need to respect women!” And proceeded to talk to him about how inappropriate it was to touch anyone without their consent, let alone someone who had a partner.

We walked out and FUMING 😡 he said that it was unlikely that guy would bother me again.

But here’s what he may or may not have known.

Holding someone accountable for bad behavior, will make him think the next time he tries to touch anyone without their permission.

Or maybe it won’t.

But I’m so proud of how important he sees it as needing to hold men accountable to their actions towards women. 🥰 And he doesn’t shy away from doing so.
